A drop of stars - when a story becomes dessert
The Teátrum Bistro was a meeting point for stories, art and gastronomy. This time, the hidden world of the former Moulin Rouge, the operetta-like interior of the patrician building, became a new source of inspiration for the bistro's latest iconic dessert, the Star Drop.
The first Sunday of Advent, Symphony of the senses author Noémi Papp presented her short story collection Miattad wake up for you. One of the most memorable moments of the evening was when the guests had their first taste of the cake inspired by the atmosphere of the book and the special atmosphere of the Theatre.
The chestnut and currant flavour of the Star Drop recalls the recurring currant motif in the book, while the shape echoes the glamour of the Moulin Rouge chandeliers. Nostalgia, lightness and French elegance all in one bite.
The aim of Teátrum Bistro is to make the Csillárcsepp a beloved classic, like the Esterházy slice or the zserbó - a dessert with a story attached to it, which guests return to time and time again.
Try this unique and exclusive treat and let the taste of a short story guide you through the experience.
„The old lady, who was the first to enter through the large glass door, put her fan down at the table by the window just as the sign was being turned. She wanted to indicate that she was going to sit there, so she turned around and walked over to the counter. He was wearing a skirt, his impossibly shapely legs moving nimbly despite his advanced age. His white gloves clung to his arms, pulled up to his elbows. His lips were a little too pursed. The staff were sure he had once danced here, their eyes fixed on him, to know from his movements and mannerisms those who had lived their lives as artists. Moreover, it represented the type of person who didn't want to order on paper, who wanted to see what Teatrum Bistro had to offer before making a choice. The glass counter was lined with cakes. Like in a number book: triangles, rectangles, round shapes. The creams were held by thin sponge cake bases, the variety of flavours making it difficult to choose. Strawberry, walnut, chocolate, cream - she put her hand to her mouth, but the barmaid saw that she wasn't trying to tease, she just instinctively covered her tongue, which appeared between her lips. She wishes! - she thought to herself, and let him look a little longer. She took one last look at the cakes, then slowly walked back to her table and waited for her order to be taken.”
