Teátrum Bistro and Kálmán Imre Teatrum have taken on a new role, stepping onto the stage as a premium event venue.
On 21 October 2025, as a result of many years of cooperation between the Budapest Operetta Theatre and Complet Party Service, the Imre Kálmán Theatre, known to many as the Moulin Rouge, hosted a special professional event. The Theatre Bistro was presented as one of Budapest's unique event venues at an exclusive VIP partner meeting. The aim of the programme was to give tourism and event management professionals a first-hand experience of the inspiring atmosphere created by the theatre environment and the unique ambience of the Teátrum Bistro when it takes centre stage as an event venue.
Theatre and hospitality come together – historical surroundings, modern possibilities
The event was opened by Attila Kiss B., Kossuth Prize-winning opera singer and director of the Budapest Operetta Theatre. As he said, the Kálmán Imre Theatre – with its theatre hall, Teátrum Bistro and Somossy Salon – is not only an ideal venue for cultural programmes, but also for various corporate and private events. The historical setting is elegantly combined with modern hospitality, offering a genuine, distinctive experience for its partners.
The theatre as added value – an experience that offers more than just an event
The guests were able to experience first-hand the atmosphere created by an event organised in a theatre setting: a gala programme consisting of musical and operetta hits showed how the theatre experience can become a highlight of an event. The programme included a short film about the work of Károly Somossy, which provided an insight into the vibrant nightlife of the last century, recalling the history of the Moulin Rouge, the predecessor of the Imre Kálmán Theatre. The event was hosted by actor Zsolt Hommonay, who personally guided the guests through the programme. The operations manager of Complet Party Service presented the possibilities offered by the Teátrum Bistro as an event venue, after which the participants were able to sample the bistro's selected catering offerings.
Backstage tour and wine tour – two special programmes, two experiences
The guests took part in two programmes:
- A behind-the-scenes tour, during which you can gain insight into the world behind the scenes.
- Wine tasting, made special by the elegant surroundings of the Theatre
Guest success and positive professional feedback
The partner meeting was attended by numerous invited experts, including young event organisers and representatives of the tourism industry. Based on the feedback, the Kálmán Imre Theatre and Teátrum Bistro offer a new perspective on the Budapest event venue market: the elegance of the turn of the century, artistic value and quality hospitality combine to create a truly unique environment.
Teátrum Bistro and Kálmán Imre Theatre are now not only gastronomic and cultural venues, but also distinctive, premium event spaces with an artistic background, where stories and events come to life.
